Story1 It floated down in its pod, aware of only one thing – it had to find a host. As soon as the ground rose up to meet it, it cracked through, escaping towards its target, a female being unaware of its presence. Launching itself at her, it burrowed into her head with astonishing speed and began taking over the entire head, fueling its parasitic nature with the flesh of the host. The host's memories started to flow in its mind, Tamiya Ryouko, female, teacher. It figured that it was now a she, a female, as it now had a female body. She decided that she would operate under the same identity as her host and that she would work as a teacher. She was curious about this new world, she remembered having an original drive, yet now there were limitless goals to choose from, with many paths spiraling out of this instant. She wanted to know more about her own biology, how it would limit her going forth. Of course, there are the basics, like the host body must be alive and well for me to be alive. I’ll need to secure food as well HUMANS! The sudden thought screamed across her with an astonishing force, instinctual desire driving her even more than she had experienced when finding a host. She had no particular reason to eat humans over other sources of nutrition, yet the instinct remained, and so she acted upon it. Following the hooded figure into the dimly lit alley, she suddenly morphed her face into a flexible tentacle with a small curved blade, cleanly slicing off the head of the human in front of her. Reverting back to her human face she began to eat, blood rolling out of each bite, out of her mouth, down onto the unforgiving pavement. I’ll need to get a teaching job so I fit with this identity, but I can’t stay at the current school– they might notice any subtle differences between Tamiya Ryouko and me. 2 “I suppose I’m Tamiya Ryouko, or at least she was, so now I am,” she answered. “Since you don’t have a name I’ll just call you A. Anyway, I’m just curious to see what would happen. I can always use it for experiments after it is born as well.” Also, I want to know why this was held such importance to Tamiya Ryouko, but I don’t need to tell that to A, it would probably add more confusion for him. “Whatever, I’ll do it,” A responded. … It wasn’t eventful at all, I’m not sure why Ryuoko thought it would be special, maybe it is actually having a baby. Though that itself doesn’t make sense, why would you keep something around that just adds extra baggage? Humans don’t make sense, that’s why they fail– because they don’t act logically. She got out of the bed leaving A behind and walked to the window. Looking out over the skyscraper horizon, she questioned how humans had been able to make it this far in their evolution. What variable was she missing that completed the equation for their success. I suppose that I will find that out if I observe students at my new job, and once I have a baby, I can run more experiments to figure that out. 3 “How can you expect to be a role model for your students if you are pregnant and don’t know who the father is,” the male teacher exclaimed as all the bickering started to blur together. Tsk! What does it matter who the father is? These humans and their rules are just too arbitrary. I can’t very well tell them the father is A, who killed students and teachers at this very school trying to kill Izumi Shinichi. It’s time to leave. Amidst the chaos of each opinion being thrown at her, she suddenly rocketed up out of her seat, calmly turned towards the door, and walked out leaving behind a group of shocked, gaping faces. “Wait! Ms. Ryou-” an exclaimed teacher tried to call her back, falling short of his mark. … She walked into her apartment, hand covering her belly and made it just after the genkan when she heard a knock on the door. “Come in,” she stated. A woman entered the house cautiously. The mother of the host, I must not betray my cover. “I heard you quit your job today, I just wanted to check up on you,” the mother said with an inquisitive tone. Tamiya Ryouko turned around and said, “Mom, I’m fine. I’m busy right now can we talk at a different time?” with a stone face. In that instant, the mother started to back off in visible fear, shaking and asking, “Who are you?! What did you do with Ryouko?”. Tsk, my identity has been blown, now I need to clean up this mess. How did she know?? She morphed her face into a tentacle blade and quickly beheaded the mother. 4 “and so we see that animals can in fact exhibit behavior previously thought to be distinct to humans. Traits that one might mention in defining humanity,” the professor concluded. Very interesting lecture, though it was hard to pay attention with these two female humans ogling my baby. “How cute” No it's disgusting, but I’ll use it for experiments when it is time. Also, Shinichi has been sitting in the back, so I suppose I need to deal with him. She picked up the baby by its back and it started crying. “Quiet,” she hissed and the baby instantly became silent as the two women looked on in horror. 5 After relocating part of the parasitic part of her to the hostile parasites she was now left with a only the bottom half of her face. As the part attacking the other parasites invaded their bodies gaining the upper hand, she finally felt real joy for the first time. Laughing with only half of her face, she sprinted past a couple who were struck with fear by the sight. She stopped at the end of the street under the only light, now with a different face. The couple approached her from behind, not knowing if it was whatever they had just seen. “Hey, are you okay,” the man asked with a shaky voice. “We just saw a very strange woman missing part of her head.” “I’m okay,” she replied, turning around to face them with a normal face. “But my head is empty,” she exclaimed as she opened up her face to show them it actually had nothing within, laughing hysterically. |

Snow drifted down onto her white business dress as she clutched her baby close. Police surrounded both her and Shinichi, tense and not sure of what to do.
“Screw it, I’ll take responsibility for what happens,” the chief exclaimed, firing a single shot directly between her eyes.
The bullet fell out of her face as she morphed it back to normal. Suddenly an onslaught of bullets streamed towards her, and she suddenly morphed her face into angelic wing-like shapes to shield the child while the human part of her body took hit after hit.
Must get my baby to Shinichi. Have to get the message across to him.
Suddenly she transformed part of her face to show Shinichi’s late mother and started walking towards him with a smile. Not a cold smile like she usually displayed, but one of warmth. One that knew what it meant to be a mother.
“Wait,” Shinichi exclaimed. “The kid!”
The bullets trickled to a halt as she finished her approach towards Shinichi.
“I never did any experiments on him,” she said, handing the baby over to him right before collapsing.
At least the baby is safe. With that final thought, she shriveled up and passed away peacefully and without regret.
